The Department of Computer Application under the umbrella of Girijananda Chowdhury Institute of Management and Technology was started in the year of 2009 with affiliation to Gauhati University and approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), Govt. of India. Later on the course has been affiliated to Assam Science and Technology University from the year of 2014.
In the year 2022-23, the department has been established as “Department of Computer Application” under the School of Engineering and Technology of Girijananda Chowdhury University (GCU), Assam.
The objective of the department is to provide quality education in Computer Application especially for the youths of North eastern Region and also as whole for the country. Apart from providing regular Undergraduate and Post graduate Programmes in Computer Application, the department is also providing education leading to the degree of Doctor of Philosophy ( PhD) in Computer Science and Engineering. The Department is enriched with well equipped Computer Laboratories and high speed Internet facilities for the students. The department provides education on latest software technologies to make the students ready for job.
The Alumnus of the department is working at different Government organisations , national and multinational companies at different levels.
