The 4-year degree course in Mechanical Engineering was started in July 2007. Gradually, the department has expanded to offer two years M. Tech program with a specialization in Thermal and Fluid Engineering (TFE) in 2017 and the department started Ph. D. program in 2023. The department constitutes of competent faculty members, who help the students enrich their learning experience through practical/seminars/industrial training/projects, aided by the technical facility of the workshop, state-of-the-art laboratories, and in-house experimental set-ups. Apart from following the academic curriculum, the workshop facilitates the needs of the students in terms of executing works of their B. Tech., M. Tech., and Ph.D. programs. The department also welcomes students from other institutes to complete their academic internship. The motto of the department is “Quality education through practical learning”. Field visits and excursions are arranged for final-year B. Tech. students. The B.Tech program is accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA) for the Academic years 2016-17, 2017-18, and 2018-19 with extension for years 2019-20, 2020-21, and 2021-22. Recently, the accreditation has been continued for the years 2022-23, 2023-24, 2024-25.
